A Treat for Us Marmots

For us marmots, the mountains are a true land of plenty with a very special diet. We love to feed on herbs, flowers, and grasses. We especially enjoy nibbling on red clover, which provides us with plenty of protein. Alpine motherwort is also a great herb that gives us lots of energy. We really like the taste of daisies, too. But not all plants are so tasty and healthy for us. Arnica, for example, is good for you humans, but it’s not good food for us. And we’d rather stay away from gentian and monkshood. These plants are poisonous and dangerous to us.
